Hey! Donald Trump is running for president. What a joke! He'll be laughed out of the competition in no time, right?
No really, just wait. The novelty will wear off. People will soon see right through that blowhard's agenda and start focusing on the rest of the field. You know. Those other, but less scary, candidates.
(A slight pause for intermission)
Holy crap! The Donald is leading in the polls. So, a few of my friends still laugh. But now they're saying, "but he's so real." "He's saying it like it is." And my favorite, "He's so honest."
These are not political people. I don't think they would have cared at all that people are running for president now. The election isn't until 2016. They'll start paying attention then.
But Donald Trump is wowing them. He's wowing everybody.
And the only thing he is doing is saying aloud what all his listeners, his fans, his would be voters, would like to say, but can't, because our society has evolved enough that even they know it's not acceptable. But they've been feeling that way.
This isn't funny anymore.
Nobody is laughing this guy off the stage. Nobody is saying he doesn't have a chance. Nobody is stopping his hateful rhetoric.
And he's getting stronger, bolder and uglier with each passing day. And so are his groupies.
Can anyone see how dangerous this man is? Can you imagine him on the world stage?
Although, my fear is that by the time that...ooh, I can't think of a horrible adjective that correctly describes that evil man...by the time he does manage to secure the presidency, there will not be the United States of America on the world stage.
He's going to destroy us long before then.
I am very afraid.
