“Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton‘s campaign has agreed in principle to her chief rival Bernie Sanders‘s request for additional debates — paving the way for a possible Democratic forum next week in advance of the New Hampshire primary.
The New Hampshire Union Leader and MSNBC have proposed holding a debate on Feb. 4, just days before the New Hampshire primary. That debate is not approved by the Democratic National Committee, which has only officially sanctioned six events and has threatened to exclude candidates from future debates if they participate in unsanctioned forums.
SNIP
“We are glad that Senator Sanders has changed his mind about a debate next week in New Hampshire. We have always been willing to add additional debates beyond the six that had been scheduled and look forward to starting discussions on scheduling debates in April and May,” said Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon.
“Sen. Sanders is happy to have more debates but we are not going to schedule them on an ad hoc basis at the whim of the Clinton campaign. If Secretary Clinton wants more debates that’s great. We propose three additional debates. One in March, April and May and none on a Friday, Saturday or holiday weekend,” said campaign manager Jeff Weaver in a Wednesday statement.
“
Whoooooweee, the drama of it all!
No more lame placement of debates on weekend. What a concept!
What a ‘blessing’ this would be lol:
Both campaigns said they wanted the debate to have the DNC’s blessing as well — which the party has not yet provided.”
Gah.

The Democratic Candidates Are Having a Bizarre Debate About Debates
Martin O'Malley claims that when Bernie Sanders called for more debates he really wanted less.
to which Sander’s campaign replied:
“Asked to respond to O'Malley's statements, the Sanders campaign sent along a press release it had released Wednesday evening saying it would agree to the New Hampshire debate, but only on the condition that Clinton agreed to further debates in March, April, and May. "From the beginning of this campaign Sen. Sanders has called for more debates. Secretary Clinton has not," the release said, with no mention of O'Malley by name, perhaps because it's a given that he would happily appear at any future debate if he's still in the race.”
