Mine will be quick…
If you join the “Bernie or Bust” movement, you are de facto abandoning Sanders.
Bernie Sanders made the extremely, very, very wise decision to run within the Democratic Party rather than running as an outsider Independent.
Sanders has been in politics for more than a quarter of a century and if you think that he did not think about the options, you are making a big mistake. He is a smart guy who knows how this stuff works. We all need each other. Jumping ship now will NOT help.
Sanders knows better than most that the way to build a movement and a caucus is to use the infrastructure of the party that is both powerful and that ostensibly has values that are most aligned with the objectives.
I have great faith that Sanders, unlike Nader who would talk to no one and essentially ran a vanity campaign in 2000, will be fighting for his entire caucus to be heard, but he can only do that if we stick together! He becomes irrelevant if you declare that you are now a supporter of the Green Party or plan on writing in your favorite pet for president in November. All of the congressional hopefuls that are Sanders supporters also lose if you choose to abandon the ship at this point.
If you trust Sanders, let this play out and give him your vote and backing so that he can bargain for the change that we all KNOW we need. If the establishment thinks that you are a cheap date who will abandon the one who brought you to the dance, they will write everything that has been accomplished so far off and we will have made no progress. Stand strong as a member of the Sanders voting bloc. I implore you to think about that.
We must not be divided.
Thanks in advance. Happy trails, primaries and caucuses.
