The Colombian Constitutional Court has ruled in favor a marriage equality in a six to three decision, which finally and officially brings marriage equality to Colombia. The South American country is now the 23rd nation in the world to have the freedom to marry.
From JMG:
In a ruling that was widely anticipated, today the Colombian Constitution Court issued a landmark 6-3 ruling which legalizes same-sex marriage nationwide. Today’s ruling follows a 2011 decision which declared that unions between same-sex couples fall under the government’s definition of families.
Colombia now joins Argentina, Brazil, French Guiana, and Uruguay among the South American nations that have legalized same-sex marriage.
