(I’ll repeat a question I posted last week: I’m leaving for London tomorrow and am looking for birding tips. I don’t seek anything rare — but I do want to photograph as many native passerines as possible.)
Last week I drove to the outskirts of town (Fort Worth) and chased some scissor-tailed flycatchers down a country road. They are one of my favorite summer visitors, even if they’re a harbinger of the impending four months of air-conditioned cabin fever.
Back at home I caught a some other visitors. A male and female great-crested flycatcher:
