The mythology of Trump needs deconstructing.
Today, the New York Times (yes, that New York Times) took a big step in the right direction with this piece:
There is a lot worth liking about this article:
First, that it was even written. Maybe the media have finally gotten enough flack about their embarrassing dereliction of duty that things will turn around?
Second, that it is in his hometown newspaper: These folks know a lot of old dirt on Dirty Don, and they have dug it all up for this in-depth expose.
Third, the way it weaves together all the components of uber-successful crony capitalism: the advantages of birth, the cultivation of all the right connections, the constant and varied angling for every advantage at the taxpayers’ expense, the litany of promises made and promises broken.
In short, the constant, decades-long betrayal of the public trust.
Everybody who reads this should ask themselves, after every paragraph, is this someone who should be in the Oval Office? Is this who we want to hold up to the world, and to our children, as our choice to represent America?
Please click through to the article, let the Times know this kind of stuff will get them the readers they crave. Get it out there on social media.
We have to stop him.
