The story is simple. For weeks, tRump and the GOP have been in a mad rush to push an extreme agenda. An agenda that is often counter to campaign statements (though surprisingly consistent with much of their platform — which they say no one is supposed to read — HA!) and public promises. Often, these policy actions and nominations have been accompanied by public statements proclaiming that they have a mandate — “elected by a Yuuge landslide”. Well, we now have clear and unequivocal confirmation that the reason for the rush is that they must understand that the reality is that they DON’T have a mandate or the will of the American public for their extremism. The proof was very graphic — and if they have the honesty (and not their ‘alternative facts’) to simply open their eyes and face reality, they would admit it. This past Saturday was the event that set the marker on what Democracy really looks like. On Saturday, Jan 21, people, often braving the cold and rain and snow, peacefully marched in the millions to demonstrate against the orange-haired vulgarian and the reactionary, confiscatory, in-humane policies of the GOP in Congress.
Much thanks to the data collected by Erica Chenoweth at the University of Denver and Jeremy Pressman at the University of Connecticut — see www.vox.com/… The graphic tells the story of an entire nation, across all regions, saying very clearly — we stand together in opposition to policies of hate and discrimination and misogyny and isolation and greed and dominionism. WE are the majority and we will not just simply accept the attempts to revert back the clock and forget all the progress that has been made on human rights and equality.
