There is no day on which it isnt a good idea to go out and look at whats going on in nature. Even on a nondescript late autumn evening.
The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Insects, weather, meteorites, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. |
I just had time for a quick run to the outside into our Dunes. Before the Sun went down. Now there is a break in the work and this might serve as Bucket for the people for this Sunday, 21. October of AD 2018.
The Dog dunes are the Dunes behind my house, which are not part of the local National Park (and therefore overrun by Dogs .. people walk the dogs and themselves there). The general location is the Dunes behind IJmuiden in The Netherlands, Europe.
It’s fall. So, nothing should be visible. But some flowers somehow seem to forget to wind down.
we have an absurdly warm fall. Maybe that is what confuses some plants.
And where berries there are also birds, no? Little birds were there, but they hid efficiently; somewhat larger, more self assured birds were flocking, and watching me from safe distance. I tried a while to get a few of them. Here’s an attempt. Likely some people will recognize them?
And how did the land look like in general, not just the details
There was an astonishing amount of tiny growth on the ground just trying to see if it wasnt spring by any chance?
I hope this can serve as today’s Bucket for everyone!
