In an attempt to intimidate legal and undocumented permanent residents — as well as citizens of nonwhite origin — the U.S. Department of Commerce has agreed to include a citizenship question on the 2020 Census. Civil rights advocates and census workers argue against this as it could lead to a bad count, creating disproportionate districting and misallocating resources away from people who may need it.

There are calls for Congress to overturn this but at the least, we can hope there will be lawsuits.
