Something that couldn’t be further from the truth is an all too common theme among Kamala’s most fervent detractors, "but, she has no policies”. I’ll do my best to put that over-tired, disingenuous meme back to bed this morning... hopefully for good, though that may be wishful thinking. No doubt those piercing wails will keep us up for a few more nights during this long campaign.
i understand perfectly well that this is campaign season and politics is a blood sport, Kamala has said so herself…
Expecting a rough-and-tumble campaign doesn’t make it any easier to be on the receiving end of outright lies and intentional smears, it doesn’t matter which candidate you’re supporting. Please don’t ever let the disgusting behavior and daily lies of the current occupant of the White House become the norm, especially not within the Democratic Party.
After everything I’ve been through here in Puerto Rico, I’ve adopted a very simple approach to politicians and their supporters — come at me with the truth or don’t come at me at all. I’m exhausted, and I don’t have the energy or the time for painfully obvious spin. I certainly don’t have the time for clouds of smoke being blown my way, and I definitely don’t have time for forked tongues. Come at me with any of the above?
it would be impossible for me to go into all the details concerning all of Kamala’s policies — actual authored and submitted legislation in only her first 3 years as a Senator — so consider this the beginning of putting together our syllabus. A resource, an innoculation, a shield, a sword against the smears and attacks that are sure to come, especially during the General Election for President of the United States.
Let’s get this morning’s roundup started with group member DaisiesArePretty and her fantastic breakdown of Kamala’s LIFT Act. I hope you check it out if you missed it. It’s a great place to start, even if you joined her the first time around.
*I’d also like to send my warmest wishes to Daisies, she’s been under the weather, but promised that she’d soon be back to writing her Go Kamala Go series. Let’s all wish her a speedy recovery!
"We will deliver the largest working- and middle-class tax cut in a generation. Up to $500 a month to help America's families make ends meet." Kamala Harris
“This is a brilliant approach as we know that all essentials for living a standard quality of life are increasing while salaries are stagnated. Most middle-class families cannot afford to live where they work or the rising cost of education for their children so this welcome relief will help to ensure they can have a shot at realizing the American dream. Thank you, Senator Harris, for caring about working families.” Alice Huffman, President, CA NAACP
“Health equity for Black women can only happen if we recognize and address persistent biases in our health system,” said Senator Harris. “This bill is a step towards ensuring that all women have access to culturally competent, holistic care, and to address the implicit biases in our system.”
"We applaud Senator Harris on putting forward this critical legislation and appreciate her commitment to ending racial disparities in maternal health care and outcomes,” said Elizabeth Gay, MPH, Co-Director of the Black Mamas Matter Alliance. “Addressing racial discrimination and implicit bias is an important but often overlooked part of improving maternal health in the United States. We are grateful for Senator Harris’ brave leadership.”
“We are proud to endorse Senator Harris’ legislation, the Maternal CARE Act. This bill gives young people entering the medical field access to implicit bias training, as well as establishes a pregnancy medical home demonstration program,” said Lisa Hollier, M.D., M.P.H, president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
In case you missed Joan McCarter’s Front Page Diary on the EQUAL Defense Act, check it out.
“After spending my career around the criminal justice system, I've seen up close how it can fail to ensure that poor defendants receive a fair trial and due process, as guaranteed to all of us in our Constitution,” said Sen. Harris. “All too often, our public defenders are overworked and lack sufficient resources. This makes public defense unsustainable over the long haul. And the thing that suffers is the integrity of our system of justice, which is supposed to be based on fairness and equality. It's wrong, and it's the opposite of justice.”
The EQUAL Defense Act is supported by Jon Rapping, President & Founder of Gideon’s Promise. “Public defenders have largely been ignored in the national conversation around criminal justice reform,” said Rapping.

Harris, Colleagues Introduce Bill to Protect Military Families Living in Private Housing
“Our nation’s service members and their families make daily sacrifices to protect the nation, and they deserve fair treatment and comfortable living conditions back at home,” said Senator Harris. “I was extraordinarily troubled by reports last year of inadequate housing conditions at Camp Pendleton and visited with families living there in order to learn more about their housing needs. This legislation is an important step forward ensuring that we’re doing everything we can to provide quality housing for our service members and their families across the country.”
The legislative package consists of three bills that were originally introduced in 2017 and 2018:
- The Northwest California Wilderness, Recreation, and Working Forests Act, which is led in the House by Rep. Jared Huffman (CA-02),
- The Central Coast Heritage Protection Act, which is led in the House by Rep. Salud Carbajal (CA-24), and
- The San Gabriel Mountains Foothills and Rivers Protection Act, which is led in the House by Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27).
“Under this administration, California’s beautiful public lands and its outdoor economy are under direct threat, and we must stand up against this active effort to chip away at vital environmental protections,” said Harris. “Restoring and expanding protections for our public lands means protecting Americans’ right to clean air and clean water and providing everybody the opportunity to explore and enjoy the outdoors.”
“With this Administration taking action to open up public lands and national monuments on the Central Coast to oil and gas drilling, it is more important than ever that we act to permanently protect our open spaces that provide invaluable local watersheds and recreational outdoor activities,” said Rep. Carbajal.“I thank Senator Harris for her leadership in this important fight to preserve California’s public lands for future generations.”
VALUING AND RESPECTING WORKING PEOPLE WHO LAY THE FOUNDATION OF OUR FUTURE ECONOMY
Every child deserves a world-class education, regardless of their ZIP code. Of all in-school factors that impact their success, there’s nothing more important than our teachers. That’s a fact. But we’re not acting like it. In America today, there’s a drastic teacher pay gap—and it’s growing. Public school teachers earn 11 percent less than similar professionals, teachers are more likely than non-teachers to work a second job, and the average teacher makes $1,000 less than 30 years ago.
The teacher pay gap is a national failure that’s holding America back. From city schools in major urban centers, to rural schools like those in South Carolina’s “Corridor of Shame,” we’ve failed to give teachers the respect and resources they deserve. It’s time for a bold, national response.
So let’s speak the truth: America’s teachers are drastically underpaid and they deserve a raise. That’s exactly what Kamala Harris intends to give them as President. We’ll make the largest investment in teachers in American history and provide the average teacher a $13,500 raise, entirely closing the teacher pay gap.

As is obvious, Kamala’s “policies” are as transparent as she is, and they are too numerous to mention in one post.
Please check out her submitted legislation and be proud of who we support for president!

Group Guidelines
The Kamala2020 community group has been created to positively support Senator Kamala Harris, and not to engage in negativity towards other community members or any other Democrats running in the 2020 primaries.
All should be made to feel welcomed here. What’s not welcomed here is petty bickering over any of our preferred candidates, or personal attacks on fellow Democrats. We’re not responsible for the actions of others who may offend, insult or attempt to sow discord and disunity — that’s on them.
What we are responsible for are our own words and actions — that’s 100% on us.
I’d like to ask all group members, as well as those dropping by who support or are interested in Kamala’s bid for the nomination, that we not respond to negativity from other campaign’s supporters with negativity. Let’s do better than our best and respond with respect, humor or try to hold our peace. Doing no harm costs us nothing... pie-fights will cost us everything.
