Having a debate in two “divisions” because the DNC can’t say no to people who think they are running for President but have no chance is a farce that will prevent any actual engagement on governing philosophy. Instead, they should use the following system:
1. First debate gets top 10 people in national polling aggregates.
2. Each subsequent debate cuts one position until only people polling at at least 4% nationally are on the stage.
If they’re going to invite everyone, they should at least divide it into the kiddie table and the main event, so that those of us who want to hear what the Warrens and Sanders and Harrises of the world have to stay can hear it without sitting through answers from the Marianne Williamsons and Tim Ryans of the world.
