The inauguration of the new governor of Puerto Rico will take place this Saturday, January 2nd. The new governor has invited FOUR HUNDRED people to the inauguration and festivities follow. He is being criticized for holding such an event of this magnitude during the pandemic.
The new governor Pierluisi has dismissed all criticism, saying that there will “always be someone who criticizes” .
It gets worse. The Secretary of Health Gonzalez defended the action by saying “we need to
present a government of force”. He went on to say, to defend the new governor, that those attending the event are “educated people” who know how to recognize if they are infected with COVID-19.
I will leave it to you to decide if this is prudent judgement. I know what I think.
I do not have an English article on all of this, but below is a link to an article in Spanish.
