So much for the myth that Iowans give a ratz azz as to the presidential preferences of African-American. After all, it's not as if it isn't news that Mayor Pete is the least popular Democratic Presidential candidate amongst non-Whites of all time -which, sadly, is only a slight exaggeration.
Sadder still, it is as if Mayor Pete's well known high disapproval from POC is a positive attribute to his supporters. I guess the very best one can say for this lot is that they simply don't think electoral vability is dependent on African-Americans.
Which means they think like Republicans.
And if there is one political dirty trick Republicans excell at it is diminishing the political influence of African-Americans. Now that the race is entering the Real America phase - once we're finally outta NH, that is - the only pathway forward for Mayor Pete is the Republican way - that is, maximize right-of-center White turnout. Mayor Pete could do very well in SC, and many other Open Primary States , with this strategy - as i detailed in Whiten-Up! Towards a New Democratic Coalition in the New South
But right now I'm focused on who won Iowa and what his win means for the diverse Democratic coalition. I know Mayor Pete wants to be included in the "diverse" category, but no, that's not possible. Mayor Pete lived his whole life, through his first 3 years as Mayor, before coming out as gay. IOW, all of his admirable accomplishments were under the guise of a "straight" White Christian man. So he never had to face the discrimination that POC, and proud members of the LGBTQIA community, have to face on a daily basis. Now he can't stop telling everyone he's gay. Talk about White male privilege! He reeks of it.
However, I didn't have that privilege of hiding the fact that I'm a member of an oppressed group as I didn't have to tell anyone I'm a Black male. All I had to do was show up…
But Iowa, I just want you yo know that I will do everything I can to ensure that not only will you never again be first in the nation, but that you'll be last, which will suit your "Iowa Nice" facade to a T.
Oh yea, and FU back at ya...
