This won’t get much press, but the Perseverance rover spied this solar eclipse.
Just blows me away. And saddens me a bit…
How do we get people excited about this type of thing? And realize that cooperation is better than violence? There are a lot of people who did a lot of different things that made this 50 second video possible. They did not achieve this by calling each other pedophile groomers or feel the need to bring concealed guns into work.
I've often mentioned that "Plane Lands Safely!" doesn’t sell copy...and I'm saddened why. Because too many people have no idea how complex and amazing that landing of a couple hundred people is, they take it for granted that "someone else" knows the nuts'n'bolts. No way they can understand "the science". So they've been told.
A friend as a kid philosophized about the "poor message" that came from some religions, and the "I can't do math/science" is a variation of that. Not everyone can do calculations quickly in their head or grasp how organic chemistry works...but the basics about a plane flying should be explainable to anyone who played with a garden hose with no nozzle as a kid.
