Apparently Senator Vance is very sad about his constituents’ desire to have their right to reproductive care enshrined in the Ohio Constitution.
From The Hill:
“For pro lifers, last night was a gut punch. No sugar coating it.”
“We have to recognize how much voters mistrust us (meaning elected Republicans) on this issue.”
“We need people to see us as the pro-life party, not just the anti-abortion party.”
Welcome to reality, Senator Vance. I wish you the best of luck getting your fellow Republicans to recognize anything, but don’t let me discourage you.
I’ll give you a hint on how to get voters to see you as the pro-life party, instead of just the anti-abortion party. It involves actually caring about women and their children, and funding programs to support them.
Your party has consistently fought family leave, daycare and school funding, school lunch programs (for fuck’s sake), and virtually any program that might make the increasingly difficult task of raising children any easier.
Try being pro-life, and not just pro-birth, and maybe people will see you that way.
