While much of the non-US English speaking world is still celebrating Boxing Day, here the post-holiday has thankfully begun. This means I no longer have to listen to any Xmas music channels while in the car with my sister. Hearing 12 different versions of “Sleigh Ride” or “Winter Wonderland” is never easy. And that’s when they play a version different from the original recording. Expand your playlists please.
Yesterday, we did out traditional Jewish Christmas at our favorite dim sum place. As always, the food was excellent. One note of caution about dim sum, the price can escalate quickly. For the three of us, it came out to $70, but we did have a large amount of leftovers. We stopped at a bakery afterwards for desserts. I was disappointed with the gingerbread man I bought, but the other items we purchased were very good. I missed seeing the freshly made french crullers on the back shelves until I already picked out a few things, so we will be going back.
After a short rest at home, we went back out to see “The Boys in the Boat.” It was excellent. One weird thing during the crew races was how the boats were spread in the rivers. Based on the shots, there was a no way for a few boats to come from behind as they were in the same line as boats ahead of them. Whoever was the script supervisor was not paying attention to check for continuity issues there.
