As certain Senators, who shall remain nameless, actually, fuck that….
Since Rand Paul is being his usual self (ie. dickhead) and demanding a clean CR contain no Ukraine aid, I think it’s time our Democrats use the power of the majority to hold an Armed Services hearing on that topic.
There are a few good reasons to do this.
Foreign Policy: Let’s get Tony Blinken in the spotlight for a minute, to talk about how our ALLIES are doing a great job degrading Russia’s military. He could talk about the revitalization of NATO defense in the face of an expansionist aggressor. And how they look to us to provide leadership in the world stage.
Fiscal: We’re spending a lot of money supporting Ukraine. Americans deserve an accounting, plain and simple. It’s my opinion that we’re getting tremendous bang for our defense buck, but let the Pentagon make the case.
Military Politics: Fucko 45 spent his whole his entire “Administration” badmouthing our military families and leadership. Here’s a chance to publicize the great good work being done by our Advisors in Ukraine, and by our logistics troops getting the job done.
Beanbag: The Senate isn’t going to be able get much done with the House in such dysfunction, so why not hold hearings to:
1) Highlight the idiocy of the Impeachment hearings with substantive discussion of the Nation’s business. Demonstrate that Democrats are serious, and Republicans are anything but.
2) Put some fire under Paul and Tuberville, and get their names in the news as the unreasonable asses that they are.
3) Maybe get a little “Rally ‘Round the Flag” for our CiC Joe Biden, and give the Brass a chance to complain about 45’s treatment of them.
4) Get some spotlight for Jack Reed. He’s a good Democrat. Also, I’d love to see Liz Warren & Dick Blumemthal lighting up their esteemed colleagues across the aisle. This will be needed, as the “news media” won’t cover the hearings without some tea being spilled.
I’m having trouble seeing a downside to this. I’m sure y’all can provide them in the comments.
Cheers!
