Welcome to Street Prophets Sunday Coffee Hour. This is an open topic thread so grab your favorite drink and sit a spell and let us know what is new with you. I solved a mystery this morning, a mystery and a miracle.
A couple of days ago I awoke from a dream with a memory I have tried to suppress. I have never understood why this happened to me. I now know why it did I just don't know who the person involved was.
I was a caregiver for my brother Reid. A big sister knows. I could tell he was lieing when he said he was alright. I went from North Carolina to California and brought him back here to live with me. He was 5'5" and 98 pounds. He looked like a skeleton with flesh. He was smoking heavily and ignoring his diabetes. I took charge and got his weight up and the diabetes under control. He stopped smoking on his own.
If you have been a caregiver you know that stress becomes your middle name. I sought out a therapist to talk to and get some help for the insomnia that caregiving was causing.
I left early for my appointment as the building could be difficult to find. I was distracted that day and true to form missed the building. I was on the edge of town and had driven over a mile trying to find a place to turn around. Finally I found a place and turned around and suddenly my life changed in a instant.
The car suddenly rolled over onto the passenger side wheels and slide down a ditch. I was terrified. The slightest movement and the car would roll over onto the roof and I would be crushed to death. I forgot my phone and couldn't call for help. Suddenly I felt a push on the car and the car was on its four wheels.
A woman was suddenly at my window. I can still see her to this day. She looked about 30. She was of medium height. She had fair skin, brown eyes and brown hair. She was very pretty. She had on a grey knit cap, a grey crewneck long sleeve shirt and a burgundy puff vest. She said her friends saw what happened and would get me back on the road. I heard a male voice say " keep your foot off of the brake". Suddenly I was back on the road. No one was there.
Today I finally realized why I was spared. When Reid was in the hospital for the last time I got a call he was dieing. I rushed to his side. He knew I was there. I told him I wouldn't leave him. I spent eight hours holding his hand until he passed away.
I now know my life was spared so I could, for one last time, take care of my little brother.
