I have been publishing a Boosting Biden post every weekday since January 1st.
These have highlighted just some of Biden’s many accomplishments. You can find them here. There was a new one this morning on Biden’s long support for gay marriage
I mean every word of those posts. Biden has been an amazing president — the best of my life — and he has accomplished a great many things that have been a boost to Americans.
My plan had been to continue this, without pause, until election day.
However, I am going to pause.
With the ongoing situation in Gaza, I am finding it harder to unequivocally cheer for Biden every day.
His rhetoric on the situation has improved, but he needs to match it with some action.
To be clear:
I still enthusiastically support Biden’s reelection.
I am still very impressed with what Biden has done.
But I can’t just keep posting these with this heaviness in my heart. Each of those posts feels like there is an elephant in the room and I am getting uncomfortable ignoring it.
This has been a really hard and really emotional decision.
But I strongly believe that Biden needs to do more to stop this war. What is happening in Gaza is unconscionable and the current government in Israel is truly evil. For what it is worth, I am Jewish and much of my family lives in Israel. I believe that Israel has a right to defend itself. It is a country I love very much. So this is not antisemitic or anti-Israel. It is pro-human life and decency.
One way or another, I will continue this series before the election. I very much hope that it will be with a lighter heart than I have today.
Huge thanks to the amazing team that has helped boost the boosting Biden series.
And much love to you all.
