Nancy Pelosi and Steve Israel receive updates during midterm elections—consulting the DKE Poll Closing Times map.
Tally so far:
GOP picks up AR-Sen, SD-Sen, WV-Sen
DEM picks up PA-Gov, holds NH-Sen, MI-Sen
Still a boatload of "too close to call" races. 6:14 PM PT:
Udall up 50-45 on Gardner; Hickenlooper up 54-42 in first 565K votes to post on SOS site. Going to change... #COpolitics #COsen
— @EliStokols
Remember, Republicans had about an eight-point advantage in the early vote. Democrats argued that they were winning the unaffiliated voters, and they did, but perhaps not by the margins they needed. What's really amazing is how much stronger Dem incumbent Gov. John Hickenlooper is running vis a vis Dem incumbent Sen. Mark Udall.
6:14 PM PT: Still not much to worry about in North Carolina.
Looking good for Hagan. Tilliis still running 4 to 5 behind Mitt in most places, and Mecklenburg (Charlotte) has lots more to come. #ncsen

6:16 PM PT:
Forget having a conference about polling in Colorado, we really need a conference about polling in Virginia.
— @Taniel
Dems are getting really worried.
6:22 PM PT: What a weird election night. GOP-held WV-02 (Senator-Elect Capito's seat) is within 1%. About 55% of the vote in. It shouldn't be competitive, by any means.
6:24 PM PT: FL-02 still 51-49 Dem with 97% in. Would be a pickup.
6:26 PM PT: 81% in and Gillespie up 1. A lot of Warner-friendly Fairfax County out. Think Dems have it, but this all feels like a weird dream.
6:28 PM PT:
Here comes South Florida: Broward & Dade are coming in, Scott's lead is now 90k 1.6% (down from 130K, 3%)
— @MarcACaputo
It's all about South Florida at this point.
6:29 PM PT: Democrats win the Rhode Island governorship. Now you may be thinking, "so what, it's Rhode Island!" Well, it's the first time Dems have held the governorship since ... drum roll! ... 1990.
6:30 PM PT: Speaking of weird nights. Republicans were expected to take the State Senate in Kentucky, and given the blowout in the Senate race, it seems like they'd have the state-based wave to do it. And yet...
Looks like the Republicans will NOT flip KY's state House right now. Might even be 6 seat margin, 53-47 if things hold. #kyga14
— @joesonka
6:33 PM PT: Oops, State HOUSE. And why it matters for national politics:
If Dems keep KY House, bad news for Rand Paul. He wanted them to change law so he could run for Sen and POTUS at same time
— @DKElections
6:35 PM PT:
National exits currently show voters favor path to legal status for undocumented over deportation by 58-38 margin
— @BenjySarlin
6:38 PM PT: In the House, Dems pick up FL-02, hold on to MA-06 which was fiercely contested by Republicans.
6:39 PM PT:
Gillespie lead down to 22K votes. Over half of Fairfax still out. Feels a lot like '06.
— @jmartNYT
Also, Fairfax absentee ballots not in, which should net Warner some extra votes.
6:44 PM PT (Barbara Morrill): New thread here.
