Regular readers of DailyKos know all about Susan Collins’s long history of expressing “Concern” over every far-right piece of legislation, action, or nominee this administration puts out before ultimately rubber-stamping its aproval. Based on a new poll from Public Policy Polling, the voters of Maine are starting to catch on, too, and they don’t like it one bit. When asked whether they intend to support Susan Collins or her Democratic opponent next November, 44% of Mainers say they would support Collins’s opponent, while only 41% say they would support Senator Collins for reelection.
The poll also suggests that Impeachment is a political pickle for Collins in which she has only bad options. If Collins opposes impeachment, she would trail her Democratic opponent by 7 points, 40-47. Meanwhile, if Collins supports impeachment, she would trail her Democratic opponent 38-32 with almost half of Republicans “undecided,” in the general election. This suggests that not only would Collins be higly vulnerable to Republican primary challenge, but that a substantial number of Republicans might just abstain from voting in the Senate race if Collins makes the General Election.
If you’re as excited about these numbers as I am want to help make sure we end Susan Collins’s career next November, consider making a small donation to the ME-SEN Democratic Nominee Fund today help make sure that our candidate has the money they need to rid the Senate of Susan Collins and her phony “concern” once and for all!
